Introducing Hyperbeam

Vaporize the Distance

Tutturu is now Hyperbeam

No need to panic! Although we have a new name and different look, we are still the same team running the same website. We realize that some of you may have a few questions, so we’ll do our best to answer the important ones here!

Why are we rebranding?

Tutturu started as an engineering capstone project at the University of Waterloo in Canada. We originally built it so that a few of our close friends (with awful internet speeds) could spend time watching anime together while apart.

After launching Tutturu during Christmas break in 2019, we focused primarily on helping users watch anime together online. However, it was clear from the beginning that it wasn't the content that made Tutturu watch parties special—it was the people.

After lots of deliberation, we decided to change our name to Hyperbeam to ensure our brand is relevant and welcoming to everybody—not just anime lovers. We hope that our new name can better reflect our goal to create a place that brings the people you care about together, no matter how far apart you may be.

What is going to change?

Just the name and look! We are still the same in every way, so we won't be stripping away any existing features. In fact, any missing features in our recent UI overhaul are likely due to an oversight, so if you notice anything that was removed then feel free to let us know by emailing [email protected]

When will the rebrand be official?

The application will remain on tutturu.tv until Tuesday, July 13th, at which point it will be moved to hyperbeam.com

TL;DR

We're the same passionate team running the same great website with the same mission: to improve people’s lives by enabling them to have intimate and genuinely enjoyable experiences with the people they care about while apart.

The only significant change is that we’re now called Hyperbeam.

The application will move to hyperbeam.com on Tuesday, July 13th.

We're thrilled to have you along for the ride!
